All About Vape Pods
Pod mods are all the rage these days. So what’s all the fuss about?
If you’ve been vaping for a while now, you may have come across vape pods, one of the most recent ways to get your daily vape hit. Whilst most beginners will opt for the vape pen or cigalike and most pros will go for the sub ohm mods out there, the vape pod makes the technical prep that goes into a vape easier to keep on top of, whilst also making it more efficient. Due to the fact that it is used mostly for the recent innovation of nic salts, not very many people are aware of what exactly differentiates a pod mod from the rest of the vaping world.
What is a vape pod?
With these kinds of vape devices, you can expect a hybrid between your basic e-cigarette and a vape mod. With the basic prefilled cartridges of the cigalike, you may be thinking of moving up in the game to a vape mod, with replaceable atomisers, coils and the lot. This can be a daunting prospect, and going for a vape pod can be a nice inbetween. The pods you place within the device are like small bottles of e liquid, meaning that you can bring several different flavours with you at a time. What’s more, you don’t have to refill the tank if you’re bored of one flavour and want to try another. You simply take out the pod that’s inside, replace it with another flavour, and save the first one for later. This makes vaping versatile, lightweight and simple. Think of them like a Nespresso coffee machine, instead of being stuck with one type of coffee until the machine runs out, you can make one coffee at a time using the lightweight pods.
Closed system pods
Closed system pods are one of the two types of pod mod out there. Closed system pods refer to a pod with which you can only used the designated pods provided by that specific company. This means that whatever the flavour you want to choose, you have to choose it from the range of pre filled vape pods out on the market. This means that you can pick up a few flavours and go about your day, swapping between them as you do. It is also the default setting of the pod mod; the first ones that came onto the market were closed system pod mods.
Pros
The closed system pod mod is perfect for on the go vaping with no fuss whatsoever. One of the best things about it is that it’s specifically designed to be used with nic salts, one of the new and improved methods of nicotine intake. The nic salt method means that you get more bang for your buck when it comes to nicotine per vape inhale, making it the perfect way to get more satisfaction for the heavy ex-smoker looking to clean up their act.
Cons
One of the problems with the closed method is that you can be limited to only a certain number of vape flavours. You are limited to a certain company and therefore your options in terms of purchasing are fairly rigid and to the mercy of their prices. Although it is expanding at the moment, compared to an open system pod or a normal vape device, you won’t be able to try that open system flavour that caught your eye.
Open system pods
Open system pods are unique in the fact that they can use both vape pod flavours and e juices. Their open tank nature allows them to be a hybrid between the two and therefore cater to all preferences. Whether you’re new to vape pods or you have been vape podding for a while and want to mix it up a bit, the open system is the one for you.
Pros
With reservoirs of normal vape juice stored in the tank, the sheer versatility of the pod mod means that you can swap and change when you please, even between puffs. For those who like a little of everything, the open system is perfect, allowing you to swap whenever you like. Many companies have begun to cater to this, including big brands like Aspire, allowing you to find many open system vape devices in an ever growing number of vape shops in the UK.
Cons
The open system pod could bring with it a few problems. These include an extra level of fuss compared to the closed system. That’s just the nature of hybridising though and the price to pay for flexibility. It may also mean that you’ll have to carry a few other vape juices, making it less light weight than its closed system sibling.
Whatever you choose, make sure you have done your research so you know about the products range and versatility.
