Could my e liquid damage my vape device?

You’d be surprised at the damage that dodgy vape juiceS can do to your device.

E juices and e liquids are designed to go hand in hand, to work together and therefore not lead to any damaging effects on either you or your health. You’d think it’d be as simple as that and would go for any piece of technology. Why design headphones which could break your MP3 player, or petrol for your car which could gut its innards? When it comes to vape juice, the same can be asked for faulty or counterfeit e juices. Below are some of the signs to watch out for, and the damage that counterfeit vape juices could do to your device.

What is counterfeit vape juice?

Counterfeit vape juice is vape juice which has been marketed as a certain brand but is actually a cheaply made replica. These juices usually capitalise on the booming vape market and take dangerous shortcuts when it comes to the manufacture of the juice. Of course, these juices can’t be vouched for when it comes to health and safety, and that should be your priority when it comes to vape juice safety. Second to that though, is the damage it can do to your device.

What could counterfeit vape juices do to your vape?

Vape juices which are made off brand can have a really bad effect on both your health and your vape device. Counterfeit vape juices have been known to damage and irritate not only your health but the devices internal workings as well.

Burning out your coil

Counterfeit vape juices have been known to burn faster than their legitimate counterparts. This is because they are made with a range of unknown chemicals and so are sporadic in their heating. This fast burning can mean there is a build-up of gunk around your coil as well as a quicker burn out rate for your coil. This could mean that you’re ripping through coils far quicker than you usually would.

Corroding your tank

Your vape tank could be in danger as well. Corrosive vape juice can damage pyrex glass or plastic tanks as well as the internal clearomiser and atomiser. Legitimate vape juices will have no effect on your vape device, the two materials working in tandem together and with the unreactive propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine bases that the juices should be mixed with.

How to spot a counterfeit vape liquid

There are a range of clues to the legitimacy of your vape juice. The first is of course the price; if it seems suspiciously cheap you’re probably looking at a fake. Another glaring sign is, if your juice was made in Europe, the lack of an EC ID, a code of numbers on the back of your bottle which ensures its legitimacy. If the bottle itself looks cheap or bulky then you could be looking at a fake, as well as if the ink on the label is easily smudged or has been designed cheaply. Make sure also that the legal requirements for labelling have been met, for instance the nicotine content, PG/VG ratio and other hazard markings.
