Everything You Need To Know For A Satisfying Sub Ohm Vape
There are many ways you can vape and sub ohming is just one of them. So what do you need to know to get on the bandwagon?
Sub ohm vaping has been around for a few years now, starting on the DIY circuit, the craze was born out of the people looking for better ways to vape larger vape clouds, especially for competitions. Sub ohm vaping may be alien to those who are new to the craze, especially because of its reliance on the user understanding the devices inner workings. If you’re new to vaping, then this probably isn’t for you, but if you want to up your game then this article will tell you everything you need to know about one of the most powerful and smooth methods of vaping out there today.
What is it?
Sub ohm vaping is a type of vaping which allows you to vape under 1 ohms resistance, creating bigger vape clouds and a direct to lung vape hit. Okay, I’m sorry if i just said a bunch phrases you’ve never heard of, so let’s start from the top.
Ohms
Sub ohm vaping uses ohms, the measure of resistance and a key player in the ohm’s law formula. Basically the lower the resistance in a vape device, the bigger vape clouds you’ll get and the more vape juice you’ll vaporise in one hit.
Direct to lung
This means that you’ll be direct to lung vaping. Instead of above ohm vaping, where you will take in the vape juice into your mouth and then into your lungs, sub ohm vaping means that the power and amount of vape juice will go straight through your throat and into your lungs. This creates a huge gust of vape cloud on the outbreath and allows you to really get that great vape hit.
Ways to decrease your resistance
There are a variety of ways to make sure that you’re sub ohm vaping and not all of them require you to know the ins and outs of ohm’s law. That is specifically designated for those who are into rebuildable mods, which we will come to.
You can decrease your resistance with thicker coil wire, simply because more electricity can pass through it. You can also increase your airflow to get a bigger vape cloud and ease your way into sub ohming. Vape devices often have adjustable airflows, a twistable ring either around the tank or mouthpiece. If you have bought a device with temperature control settings, then the best thing you can do is start at a low wattage whilst using a low resistance coil and increase your airflow. Then to find the perfect vape setting for you, start increasing the wattage until you get a satisfactory vape cloud.
Sub ohm tanks
There are two main types of sub ohm tank you can find on the market. The Rebuildable Tank Atomiser or the Rebuildable Dripper Atomiser. These do not have an effect on the way you sub ohm vape but merely the way that you secrete the vape e juice into your device. The RDA has an atomiser which you can drip your vape juice straight onto whilst the RTA simply has the vape juice stored in the tank of the vape device. The RDA is beneficial because you don’t waste vape juice, whilst the RBA is useful for those how don’t want to faff around with dripping as they may be on the go or strapped for time.
What are the downsides?
There are a few things to keep in mind whilst sub ohm vaping. For starters, though who are looking to start and have not done so before, may be inexperienced with temperature control settings, hit their wattage up too fast and burn out their coil. This is rarely dangerous in terms of short circuiting your device but will require you to change coils and could cause a burnt taste, rather unpleasant to say the least, especially because it is what many vapers turned from tobacco to avoid in the first place!
On top of this, you may find that sub ohm vaping uses more power and therefore more juice, making it use up a lot more battery and vape e juice than your above ohm vape device.
Why do people sub ohm vape?
There are plenty of reasons to sub ohm vape. It may be because you are bored of the fairly rigid settings of above ohm vaping, or it could be that you’re looking for bigger vape clouds and a fuller flavour. At the end of the day, people who sub ohm vape do it because they have more control over their experience. In having more control, your vape experience becomes more interactive and therefore more immersive for the user. You can end up having magnificent conversations with fellow vapers about the devices, coils and temperature control settings you’re using, adding to the idea of a community within vapers. Sub ohm vaping brings with it more diversity and plenty iof great ways to get the best out fo your flavours.
